Study on the Surface Modification of Nanostructured Ti Alloys and Coarse-Grained Ti Alloys

Commercial purity titanium (CP-Ti) and a Ti-6Al-4V alloy (Ti64) were processed by high-pressure torsion (HPT) for 10 20 turns. The HPT processing produced nanostructured microstructure significant strength enhancement in the CP-Ti Ti64 samples. After turns, samples of HPT-processed subjected to laser surface treatments an air atmosphere using different scanning speeds powers. roughness laser-modified increased with increasing power this hydrophilicity due lower contact angle. holding time 27 days, these underwent hydrophilic-to-hydrophobic transformation as angle from 13° much 120° sample, sample 10° 126°. In addition, modification process was carried out atmospheres (air, vacuum O2) on heat-treated but unstrained changed element content. Thus, carbon content 28% 47% environment, 22° 140°. When is conducted under oxygen-less conditions, it concluded that increases rapidly order control hydrophobic properties Ti alloy.
